Camp and Afterschool Cancellation

The following Cass County Family YMCA programs will temporarily be closed based on the recommendations of health professionals:
Afterschool Childcare Programs and Spring Break Camp

The YMCA facility will remain open at this time.

Due to the small size of our youth sports programs, they will continue as planned. We will continue to monitor the situation and will follow all state, county, and local officials and guidelines.

Dear Members, Guests, and Staff:

As you know, there are now confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indiana. We are committed to the health and safety of our community and everyone that enters our facility. We want to let you know that we are closely monitoring the situation. We are committed to our cleaning and disinfecting procedures in our building and we strongly encourage all Y users to take responsibility for cleaning their machines and equipment after each use. We ask that individuals be understanding of additional cleaning procedures that may disrupt one’s normal routine. Again, there are no suspected cases of COVID-19 in our community or county. If a case were to occur, we will follow and adhere to the plans that are put in place from our local health department and healthcare professionals. We will notify everyone and follow the recommendations of local, state and federal authorities. In the event the YMCA would need to be closed for an extended period of time, we will inform you of the recommended length of time. We are encouraging frequent soap and water handwashing among staff, members, and guests as it’s one of the most important steps we take to avoid getting sick.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend the following preventive measures:

● Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

● Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow. Throw used tissues away in the trash.

● Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

● Stay away from people who are sick or not feeling well and avoid close contact with others through hugging, kissing or shaking hands.

● Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.

● Anyone with a fever should remain at home until they “are fever free” for 24 hours.

● Seek assistance from a health professional if you see or experience symptoms that cause concern.

For more information on COVID-19 visit the CDC’s site and the Indiana State Department of Health .

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy.
