Swim Lessons (aquatics)

alt

At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill for every child and teen.

In swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Our qualified instructors are trained in the philosophies and disciplines set by YMCA of the USA, a national leader in swim lessons for more than 100 years.

Aquatics Session Fees

  • $30 Y members
  • $55 Non-Members

Pike
This level helps children develop pool behavior, adjustment to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. This level is designed for the beginner and very elementary skills are practiced. Floatation devices are used throughout all lessons.

Eel
This level is for the intermediate beginner and reinforces "Pike" skills. Children are taught to flutter kick and will be able to swim one length of the pool by the end of this session.

This is the beginning level for school-aged children.  By the end of this session, children should know how to successfully move around in the pool without assistance.
